Garmin is rolling out a fresh beta software update for its high-end outdoor smartwatches, including the Fenix 8 lineup. The new release follows the previous beta build and focuses on fixing a pair of very specific—but potentially annoying—workout and alert issues that some users have run into.
The update arriving now is Beta Version 21.20, and it targets two main bugs. First, it corrects a problem affecting the Enduro 3 where alarms could sound as only a single beep, rather than behaving as expected. If you rely on alarms for early workouts, long training days, or simple daily reminders, this small-sounding issue can be surprisingly disruptive—so it’s a welcome fix for Enduro 3 owners.
Second, Garmin says all Solar-enabled models should now display Rest Timers correctly during workouts. Rest timers are a key part of structured training, strength sessions, and interval work, so having them show up consistently is important for anyone using these watches to guide pace, recovery, and workout flow.
There has been some naming confusion around this rollout, because Garmin previously referenced Beta Version 21.19 even though the actual update being sent to enrolled devices is Beta Version 21.20. Early users who have already received the download report that the build number is indeed 21.20, indicating it’s a new beta release—not simply a reissued earlier one.
That said, not everything appears resolved yet. Users report that weight tracking input problems—specifically when using the metric system—are still present even after installing the latest beta. And for anyone waiting for a broader, public release, Garmin hasn’t yet confirmed when the v21.xx software will move from the beta track to the stable update channel.
