Garmin’s latest Q3 software update is bringing a useful mix of smarter voice controls, safety tools, workout upgrades, and expanded sports features to select Garmin smartwatches and cycling computers.
One of the biggest additions is enhanced voice control. Users can now activate supported watch functions with the “OK Garmin” voice command, making it easier to start an activity or control certain features without touching the screen. For those who prefer using the voice assistant on their paired smartphone, Garmin has added a separate “Phone Assistant” command.
The Garmin Venu 4 is among the models receiving notable improvements. The update adds fall detection, allowing the smartwatch to automatically call for help if a fall is detected during supported activities. This feature strengthens Garmin’s focus on safety and could be especially helpful for runners, cyclists, and outdoor fitness users who train alone.
Another practical addition is “Quick Workout,” a new feature designed to make training simpler. Instead of building a full routine manually, users can enter their preferred workout duration and intensity, and the watch will generate a workout recommendation. This could be useful for anyone who wants guided training without spending time planning every session.
Garmin is also expanding its fitness coaching tools with new Garmin Coach plans. These plans are designed to help users train more effectively, whether they are preparing for a race, improving endurance, or building a more consistent fitness routine.
Winter sports users also get something new with the addition of an “XC Ski Indoor” workout mode. This gives cross-country ski athletes another way to track their training when practicing indoors.
Divers benefit from the update as well. A configured diving setup can now be shared with compatible dive computers through Garmin Share, making it easier to transfer settings between supported devices.
Garmin Edge bike computers are also included in the Q3 update. These cycling devices now gain automatic lap detection and lap counting, helping riders track performance more accurately without needing to manually mark each lap.
Overall, Garmin’s Q3 update adds meaningful improvements across fitness, safety, voice control, diving, skiing, and cycling. With features like “OK Garmin,” fall detection, Quick Workout, expanded Garmin Coach plans, and automatic lap counting, the update makes compatible Garmin devices more capable and convenient for everyday training and outdoor adventures.
