Garmin Unveils Latest Fenix 8 Upgrade Featuring New Reference Point App and Enhanced Stability

Garmin is gearing up to release a significant update for its popular smartwatch models: the Enduro 3, Fenix E, and the Fenix 8, as seen in the accompanying image. These updates promise to enhance user experience by addressing numerous bugs and introducing new features, even though they are currently available in beta.

For those part of Garmin’s Beta Program, there’s exciting news. Participants can now access the fifth version of the v12.xx beta update since it began rolling out on October 25. The initial release alone featured over 70 changes, and this figure has now grown to an impressive 148, with 15 new additions in the latest Beta Version 12.19. This update can be categorized into three key areas, focusing heavily on bug fixes.

Significantly, Beta Version 12.19 addresses 11 issues from previous software releases, ensuring that settings apply correctly when devices like the Enduro 3, Fenix E, or Fenix 8 are restored. Additionally, it resolves the problem of activities unintentionally saving when a device powers down.

A notable addition in this beta cycle is Garmin’s new Reference Point app, aimed at enhancing navigation capabilities. The update also defaults navigation turn guidance and is designed to improve error notifications for users of Garmin’s Outdoor Maps+ service. Another subtle yet beneficial change is the improved timing for the active app indicator on watch faces, further streamlining user interactions.

While these updates are a step in the right direction, a release date for when they might become a stable download remains uncertain. As Garmin continues to perfect this software, users can look forward to a more seamless experience on their devices.

Stay connected and keep an eye out for more updates as Garmin continues to refine and expand the capabilities of its smartwatches to meet user needs.
