Garmin Unveils Big Feature Updates for Its Most Popular Smartwatches

Garmin is rolling out a major quarterly software update packed with new features for a wide range of its smartwatches, cycling computers, and dive computers. The latest update focuses on improving everyday usability, workout guidance, activity tracking, safety features, and device-to-device sharing.

One of the biggest additions is hands-free voice control, designed to make Garmin wearables easier to use during workouts, outdoor adventures, and daily activities. With voice control, supported devices can handle certain commands without requiring users to tap through menus, which can be especially useful while running, cycling, or wearing gloves.

Garmin is also expanding its Run Coach Plan Options, giving runners more flexibility when following guided training programs. This should help users better personalize their fitness plans based on goals, schedules, and performance progress. For athletes who rely on structured training, this update could make Garmin’s coaching tools more practical and adaptive.

Another useful addition is the Quick Workout Feature. This is aimed at users who want to start a workout faster without spending extra time setting up activity details. Whether it is a short run, a gym session, or a quick training block, the feature should make it easier to begin tracking with fewer steps.

Winter sports users are also getting attention with the new XC Ski Indoor Activity. This mode is designed for indoor cross-country ski training, helping athletes track relevant workout data even when they are not outdoors on snow. It adds more depth to Garmin’s already broad list of activity profiles.

For divers, Garmin Share is coming to compatible dive computers. This feature is intended to simplify sharing information between supported devices, making it more convenient for users who want to exchange dive-related data.

Safety is another major focus of this update. Garmin is introducing All Day Fall Detection, expanding protection beyond specific workout sessions. This feature can help detect potential falls during daily life, adding an extra layer of reassurance for users who want more safety monitoring from their wearable.

Cyclists using Garmin Edge Cycling Computers are also getting a new Enduro Mode. This mode is built for long-distance rides and endurance-focused cycling, where battery life and reliable activity tracking are especially important.

However, not every feature will be available on every Garmin device. Hands-free voice control, for example, will not be added to some models, including the Fenix E, Enduro 3, Vivoactive 6, Instinct 3 series, and Garmin’s more affordable Forerunner watches.

Overall, Garmin’s latest update brings meaningful improvements across multiple product categories. From smarter voice control and better running plans to enhanced safety tools and new activity modes, the update continues Garmin’s push to make its devices more capable for athletes, outdoor users, and everyday fitness enthusiasts.
