Garmin Introduces Meditation Feature to Forerunner 955 in Latest Beta Update

Exciting news for Garmin Forerunner 955 smartwatch enthusiasts: a fresh beta update, version 21.14, has been released, ushering in some intriguing new features and improvements. This new update aims to enhance user experience with various additions.

Among the notable features in this update is the Moon Phase glance, offering users a celestial overview at a glance. Exercise enthusiasts will also appreciate the enhancements made to the Lactate threshold estimate; this can now be automatically calculated without needing a guided test or heart rate monitor strap.

Swimmers can enjoy improved functionality with the Pool Swim activity. Moreover, an annoying issue that plagued Android users, where images from smart notifications wouldn’t load, has finally been resolved.

A highly anticipated feature included in this update is the new Meditation Activity. Originally exclusive to the Venu 3 and Vivoactive 5, it’s now available for Forerunner 955 users, offering a range of options. Users can choose from Free Mode with its straightforward timer, Session Mode featuring pre-sets like Mindful Sounds, and Custom Mode for those who want to tailor their meditation experience.

Despite these promising updates, some users have reported a glitch with the Meditation Activity, particularly the absence of sound. Garmin has provided a workaround suggesting users synchronize their devices with Garmin Express or connect over Wi-Fi, and then perform a power cycle. After waiting 24 hours, the audio file should be available for use.

It’s important to note that this update is being rolled out in phases, so some users might receive it before others. To check if the beta software is available on your device, visit the Main menu, then navigate through Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.

Stay tuned for more updates and improvements as Garmin continues to enhance the functionality and usability of their smartwatches, ensuring users have the best experience possible.
