Samsung’s boldest foldable experiment may be getting a final encore in the United States. After months of hype, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold in December, positioning it as a premium, ultra-exclusive device aimed at early adopters and collectors. But the run didn’t last long: the Galaxy Z TriFold was discontinued just three months later in both the US and South Korea, making it one of the shortest-lived flagship foldables in recent memory.
Now, shoppers who missed the initial launch due to limited inventory may have one last opportunity to buy it. Samsung is preparing a restock for US customers on April 10, with availability through the company’s online store as well as Samsung Experience Stores. As with previous releases, stock is expected to be limited, and this upcoming drop is widely believed to be the final time the Galaxy Z TriFold will be sold.
Adding to the urgency, Samsung’s website is already running a countdown timer that ends at 9 a.m. ET on April 10. Interested buyers will need to sign up before the countdown hits zero for a chance to purchase the device, suggesting the restock may be handled as a limited-access release rather than a standard open sale.
The Galaxy Z TriFold will only be offered in a single configuration, priced at $2,899. That steep price tag is also part of why the phone remains so rare. While Samsung hasn’t publicly explained the discontinuation, reports indicate the TriFold was extremely expensive to produce and was never intended for mass-market manufacturing. In other words, it wasn’t designed to be a mainstream foldable—it was designed to push boundaries.
Even so, the concept doesn’t appear to be dead. Samsung is rumored to be developing a second-generation TriFold, along with another futuristic device that expands using a sliding design to reveal a larger display. If those projects materialize, the Galaxy Z TriFold could end up being remembered as the first chapter in a new category of premium, expandable smartphones.
For US buyers who have been waiting for another chance, April 10 may be the final window to grab Samsung’s limited-edition foldable before it disappears for good.
