Samsung’s First AR Glasses Could Make a Surprise Appearance at Galaxy Unpacked
Samsung may be preparing to reveal one of its most intriguing wearable devices yet: its first pair of AR smart glasses. The device, often referred to in leaks as “Galaxy Glasses,” has been rumored for some time and was publicly previewed during Google I/O. Now, fresh details suggest the project may be moving closer to mass production, raising expectations that Samsung could show the glasses again at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event.
The smart glasses are expected to run on Android XR, Google’s extended reality platform designed for next-generation wearables and immersive devices. Samsung is reportedly developing the glasses with help from eyewear brands Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, suggesting the company may be aiming for a product that looks more like fashionable eyewear than bulky tech hardware.
According to recent leaked information, Samsung’s AR glasses may use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip. This processor was introduced a few years ago and is designed specifically for lightweight smart glasses. It reportedly features four cores and a clock speed of up to 1.9 GHz, which should be enough for camera-based AI features, voice commands, and everyday smart functions.
One of the biggest surprises is that Samsung’s smart glasses may not include built-in display panels. Instead of projecting visuals directly in front of the user’s eyes, the glasses are expected to rely heavily on cameras and Google Gemini integration. This means the glasses could “see” what the wearer sees and provide AI-powered assistance through voice interaction.
For example, during a meeting, the cameras could capture information from a whiteboard and allow Gemini to help organize or transfer those notes into Samsung Notes for later editing. This could make the glasses useful for business users, students, travelers, and anyone who wants hands-free access to information.
Battery life may also be a major selling point. The leaked details claim the Samsung AR glasses could last up to 9 hours on a single charge. A dedicated charging case may also be included, reportedly capable of recharging the glasses up to seven times. If accurate, that would make the device practical for daily use, especially compared to many other wearable gadgets that struggle with battery endurance.
Samsung is also said to be exploring several real-world use cases for the glasses. These may include navigation, route planning, live translations, and real-time camera sharing. Live translation could be especially useful for international travel, allowing users to understand conversations or text in another language without constantly checking a phone.
The glasses may also include touch-sensitive controls built into the temples, giving users another way to interact with the device besides voice commands. Gesture controls through future Galaxy Watch models or other Samsung wearables are reportedly being considered as well, which could help create a more connected Galaxy ecosystem.

The absence of pricing and availability information in the latest leak suggests the glasses may not go on sale immediately after Galaxy Unpacked, especially not in every market.
