G-Shock Tunes Up the Metal-Bezel GM-5600 with a New Musician Collaboration

G-Shock and Tomoyasu Hotei Team Up Again for a Limited-Edition Guitarhythm Watch

Casio’s G-Shock lineup is getting another music-inspired limited edition, and this time it once again celebrates legendary Japanese guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei. The newly announced Hotei 45th Celebration G-Shock Guitarhythm model marks the fourth collaboration between G-Shock and Hotei, bringing his signature visual style to one of Casio’s most recognizable square watch designs.

The upcoming model is based on the Casio GM-5600UB-1, part of the metal-clad GM-5600 series. That means it keeps the classic square silhouette that G-Shock fans know well, while adding a stainless-steel bezel around the resin inner case for a tougher, more premium look. The result is a watch that blends everyday durability with a stage-ready design inspired by Hotei’s long-running musical identity.

The standout feature is the use of Hotei’s famous Guitarhythm pattern across the watch face and band. This bold graphic motif has become closely associated with the guitarist’s career and gives the limited-edition G-Shock a distinctive appearance compared with standard GM-5600 models. While the announcement focuses mainly on the exterior styling, there is currently no sign that the watch will include major functional changes compared with the regular GM-5600 platform.

The collaboration is part of Hotei’s 45th-anniversary celebrations, making the watch especially meaningful for fans of his music and collectors of special-edition G-Shock releases. It is also connected to his Stay Wild tour, which is scheduled to travel across 21 cities in Japan starting September 5, 2026.

Fans attending the tour may get an early look at the watch, as samples are expected to be displayed at merchandise booths during the concert run. However, Casio and Hotei have not yet revealed key launch details, including the official release date or price.

With its metal-bezel construction, iconic 5600-series shape, and striking Guitarhythm design, the Hotei 45th Celebration G-Shock is shaping up to be a must-watch release for G-Shock collectors, Japanese rock fans, and anyone looking for a limited-edition digital watch with serious personality.
