Framework Aims to Outshine the Logitech K400 With a Superior Trackpad Experience

Framework is taking aim at the popular living-room keyboard-and-trackpad concept with its upcoming Wireless Touchpad Keyboard, a compact combo designed for situations where using a mouse simply isn’t practical. Think couch gaming, controlling a home theater PC, navigating a streaming box, or managing a laptop from a comfortable distance—exactly the kind of setup where an all-in-one keyboard with a built-in touchpad can make life easier.

The keyboard is built around a straightforward idea: give users a portable, space-saving input device that still includes handy function keys and an integrated trackpad for quick pointer control. That combination is especially useful when you’re away from a desk and don’t want to juggle multiple accessories.

Connectivity is another major focus. Framework says the Wireless Touchpad Keyboard will support three ways to connect: a USB cable for direct wired use, a USB‑A dongle for quick wireless plug-and-play, and Bluetooth for cable-free pairing. Bluetooth goes a step further by allowing the keyboard to be paired with up to four devices at once, then switch between them using a key combination. For anyone bouncing between a TV PC, a tablet, and a laptop, that multi-device switching could be a standout convenience.

Under the hood, Framework is pairing a Nordic nRF54L20 microcontroller with ZMK firmware, a popular choice among keyboard enthusiasts for its flexibility. The big benefit for everyday users is customization: Framework plans to let owners program every key through a web interface. That means you can tailor shortcuts, remap keys, and set up custom functions without needing deep technical knowledge—ideal for productivity tweaks, media controls, or personalized navigation layouts.

As for pricing and availability, Framework hasn’t announced a launch date or a final price yet. The company has also indicated that more product details will be shared through its official channels, but for now the Wireless Touchpad Keyboard stands out as a promising, customizable alternative in the compact keyboard-with-trackpad space—especially for anyone looking for a cleaner, more flexible couch-friendly setup.
