Forza Horizon 6 is already being talked about as one of the most ambitious racing games in years, and a new leak is adding another big talking point: install size. A recently surfaced Xbox Store listing, shared by @ForzaLeakz on X, suggests the next Horizon entry will take up a massive chunk of storage right out of the gate.
According to the leaked listing, Forza Horizon 6 is reportedly 144.84 GB on Xbox Series X|S and 156.65 GB on PC. And that’s just the base game size—before any day-one patches, seasonal updates, or downloadable content arrive. For players with crowded SSDs, it’s an early warning that storage management could become part of the pre-launch checklist.
The numbers look even bigger when you compare them to previous entries. Forza Horizon 5 launched at around 103 GB, while Forza Horizon 4 was roughly 63 GB at launch on Xbox. That’s a steep growth curve across the series, and if the leak is accurate, FH6 pushes the trend even further. Post-launch support can also inflate the footprint dramatically; Forza Horizon 5 reportedly climbed past 170 GB with its DLC installed, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Forza Horizon 6 grow well beyond its launch size over time.
Even with those huge figures, Forza Horizon 6 wouldn’t be the largest game in the industry. Some major releases can exceed 300 GB once you factor in additional packs and modes. Still, a 150 GB racing game is notable—and in this case, the scale appears to match the ambition.
Forza Horizon 6 is set in a sprawling, fictionalized version of Japan, and Tokyo is described as five times larger than any urban area seen in earlier Horizon titles. The game has also been gaining serious momentum ahead of release, landing as Steam’s most-wishlisted title for May. If the world is bigger and denser than ever, the larger install size starts to make more sense.
There are also technical reasons a modern open-world racer can balloon in size. The game reportedly features changing seasons with more variation than the Mexico setting in FH5, supported by field recordings captured across all four seasons in Japan. On PC, it includes enhanced ray tracing, global illumination, uncapped frame rates, and multiple upscaling options including Nvidia DLSS 4, AMD FSR 3, and XeSS 2.1. Add in a garage of over 550 cars, and it’s easy to see how high-resolution assets, audio, and lighting features can quickly add up.
Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled to launch on May 19, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PlayStation 5 release expected later in the year. If you’re planning to hit the roads on day one, it may be worth clearing space now—because this trip to Japan looks like it’s going to be a big one in every sense.
