The employee in question, Di Liu, spent seven years at Apple, eventually advancing to a senior product design engineer. He allegedly misappropriated valuable data related to the Vision Pro just as he prepared to leave for Snap Inc., a competitor in the augmented reality space. According to reports, Liu uploaded confidential files to his personal cloud storage, bypassing Apple’s usual offboarding protocols by not disclosing his future employment plans.
The lawsuit, filed in Santa Clara County, claims a thorough forensic examination revealed unauthorized access and copying of sensitive information. This reportedly included design specifics, hardware tests, and unpublished features of the Vision Pro, all accessed from an Apple-issued MacBook. The incident raises significant concerns, as Liu allegedly attempted to erase traces of his actions by deleting evidence from his device.

They are also requesting the court to compel Liu to surrender his personal devices and cloud data for a comprehensive investigation.
