Fitbit’s recent app updates have stirred a mix of reactions among its user base. While the refreshed Heart Rate section has been warmly received, the same can’t be said for other parts of the app.
Earlier this year, the Sleep section redesign left many users less than impressed. More recently, changes to the Fitbit Readiness score—a tool that helps users determine their daily activity levels—have garnered attention. Previously exclusive to Premium subscribers, the Readiness score tool is now accessible to all users coinciding with the launch of the Pixel Watch 3. This rollout promised an ‘improved’ algorithm that would enhance users’ experience. However, the transition hasn’t been entirely smooth.
Post-update, users are required to wait seven days for their next Readiness score. Unfortunately, many are reporting that this calibration period is malfunctioning, remaining stuck beyond the expected week. There have also been instances of data disappearing temporarily and then returning with discrepancies, likely due to adjustments from the new algorithm. As of now, Fitbit has not provided any official statement or timeline for resolving these issues.
Additionally, a conversation thread on Reddit highlighted confusion over access to the skin temperature variation chart, which some users discovered had become a Premium-only feature. Clarification from Fitbit indicated that this chart has always been behind a paywall. Still, non-premium users can view their skin temperature range for the past seven days.
As Fitbit continues to enhance its app, it remains crucial for the company to address these emerging issues promptly to maintain user satisfaction and trust.
