Polish developer Creepy Jar has unveiled the first glimpse of gameplay for their upcoming co-op hybrid shooter, StarRupture. The gameplay reveals focus on three primary aspects: base-building, exploration, and combat.
In the newly released footage, players are introduced to the fast-paced first-person combat and base defense mechanics. Set in a distant future where humanity searches the stars for precious resources, the game takes place on Ruptura, a resource-abundant yet perilous planet.
The teaser showcases a lone explorer defending a custom-built base from enemy hordes while an impending apocalyptic fire wave threatens the planet’s surface. Besides traditional health and armor stats, survival elements such as thirst, toxicity, and hunger are prominently featured, reflecting Creepy Jar’s roots in the survival genre.
Players can utilize resources to manufacture ammunition and load turrets, forming the first line of defense against assaults targeting the base’s vital structures. As automated drones transport resources, the escalating enemy attacks push the player to make split-second defensive decisions. The urgency peaks as the planet’s star prepares to unleash a destructive blaze, pushing the player to find safety amid chaos.
Drawing from the lessons learned during the development of Green Hell, Creepy Jar is well-equipped to handle StarRupture’s intricate gameplay mechanics. The game offers a fusion of base-building, exploration, and combat set in a captivating sci-fi environment. Players assume the role of a convict exiled to a hazardous new planet tasked with mining resources, advancing industrial production, and researching new technologies. They must navigate deadly environmental conditions and hostile creatures, balancing survival and growth in an ever-changing world.
Playable solo or in a cooperative mode with up to four players, the game emphasizes resource management, complex machinery construction, and adaptation to the planet’s relentless threats. StarRupture challenges players to defend and expand their bases, leveraging advanced technology to withstand both environmental extremes and fierce adversaries.
StarRupture is currently in development for Windows PC, and will be available on Steam. However, the release date remains unannounced.
