First-Generation iPhone Fold Dimensions Leak, Hinting at Unexpected Design

Apple is gearing up to launch its first foldable device in 2026, sparking excitement and speculation. While initially thought to mirror Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7, a recent leak suggests a design closer to another smartphone model.

In 2025, Huawei set the stage with its innovative ’16:10 foldable’ device, which Apple appears to be adopting for its own foldable debut. The upcoming “iPhone Fold” is rumored to feature a main screen measuring 7.7 inches diagonally, making it larger than the Huawei Pura X, as noted by the well-known leaker Digital Chat Station. Additionally, it is expected to have a 5.5-inch cover display.

This design choice hints at Apple drawing inspiration from a unique foldable release, likely the Google Pixel Fold, which debuted with a distinctive wide form factor. Google initially launched it with a 17.4:9 cover display, later transitioning to a more conventional 20:9 aspect ratio for its successor, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. However, Apple seems to be pushing boundaries with an unusual ~14:1 aspect ratio for the outer display and a closer-to-4:3 ratio for the inner screen.

The “iPhone Fold” is anticipated to introduce exclusive features with iOS 26 and might also mark the return of Touch ID to iPhones, a feature absent for many generations. This combination of innovative design and feature revival is creating buzz among tech enthusiasts, suggesting that Apple’s entry into the foldable market will be both bold and transformative.
