The Samsung Galaxy S24 series, which was introduced on January 17, packs some notable changes, especially in its chipset offerings for different regions. Unlike the previous Galaxy iterations which had the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 across all regions, this time around, the standard and plus models of the S24 series will feature the Exynos 2400 chipset in select markets instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Samsung’s in-house Exynos chipsets have faced criticism in the past for performance concerns. However, the newly launched Exynos 2400 chipset is showing promising potential. In a recent comparison, the Exynos 2400 underwent an arduous gaming test, showing impressive performance that closely paralleled the capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
An even more intriguing development pertains to the Exynos 2400’s graphics prowess. Benchmark results from the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme test have been revealed, and the numbers suggest a strong showing for the RDNA 3 GPU-enhanced Exynos 2400, which approaches the performance of the Apple A17 Pro chip. The latter powers the high-end iPhone 15 Pro (currently priced at $984.98 for a renewed model on Amazon). The Exynos 2400 scored a remarkable 4042 in the 3DMark benchmark, inching near the Apple A17 Pro’s score of 4075 points.
This test result positions the Exynos 2400 as a significant upgrade over its predecessor, with its performance being nearly double that of the Exynos 2200, which averages a score of 1968 in the same benchmark. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 maintains a lead with an average score of around 5338 points in the Wild Life Extreme benchmark.
However, it’s important to consider that GPU benchmark scores can be heavily influenced by the thermal throttling characteristics of the smartphones they reside in. The tests can show varying results under different thermal environments, and it’s noteworthy that the available 3DMark score for the Exynos 2400 may not fully represent the chip’s performance during prolonged use.
This new chipset from Samsung has certainly caught the attention of technology enthusiasts and industry observers alike, much like seasoned tech reporter Abid, who has been captivated by the tech world since assembling his first PC. As a tech reporter, Abid shares a passion for accuracy and unbiased reporting in the technological realm, which mirrors the anticipation surrounding real-world performances of the Exynos 2400 in the Galaxy S24 series.
