Walmart is currently offering the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet edition of the Nintendo Switch OLED at a discounted price for Labor Day. Originally priced at $459.99, the special edition console is now available for $399, a saving of $60.99.
Released over six years ago, the Nintendo Switch remains a popular gaming handheld, and there’s no immediate expectation of a new model announcement from Nintendo. The Pokémon Scarlet & Violet version features unique illustrations on the joy-con controllers, the device’s back, and the dock, distinguishing it from the regular OLED models.
This special edition has the same specifications as the standard OLED version. It includes a 7-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, an upgrade compared to the non-OLED and Lite models. The device is powered by a custom Nvidia Tegra X1 chipset, which, despite being nearly nine years old, still supports new gaming titles. Recent additions include SteamWorld Heist II and Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, with more games expected in the future.
However, for playing AAA games, the Nintendo Switch might not be the best choice due to its older hardware. Alternatives like the Lenovo Legion Go, which features more robust specifications, might be better suited for those looking to play high-end games.
Note that pricing and availability are subject to change, and the discount may be applicable for a limited time and stock.
