Edifier has introduced the Edifier M90, a new set of active speakers designed for people who want quality sound without the hassle of extra equipment. Because they’re active speakers, the M90 system has built-in amplification, so you only need to connect power and your audio source to get started—no external amp required.
What helps the Edifier M90 stand out in its price range is the variety of input options, making it easy to use with everything from phones and laptops to modern TVs. For wireless playback, the speakers support Bluetooth with LDAC, which is aimed at delivering higher-resolution audio than standard Bluetooth codecs when paired with compatible devices. For TV setups, the inclusion of HDMI eARC is a big convenience, since it can simplify connections and allow audio to run through a single HDMI link—an option that’s still not guaranteed on speakers in this class.
Beyond Bluetooth and HDMI eARC, the Edifier M90 also includes optical input, AUX, USB-C, and a dedicated subwoofer output. That sub out is especially useful if you want deeper low-end impact, since there’s no built-in subwoofer in the system.
In terms of hardware, each speaker uses a two-way driver setup. Bass and midrange are handled by a 4-inch mid-bass driver rated at 35 watts, while high frequencies are covered by a 1-inch tweeter rated at 15 watts. Edifier lists a frequency response of 50 Hz to 40,000 Hz and a signal-to-noise ratio of at least 85 dB(A). Physically, each speaker measures 133 × 255 × 212 mm (5.24 × 10.04 × 8.35 inches), making them compact enough for desks, shelves, and TV stands without looking oversized.
Daily control is straightforward, with a remote included in the box, and there’s also a companion app for users who want more precise tuning and settings adjustments.
Pricing-wise, the Edifier M90 is currently listed on Amazon for $370.
