Echo Weaver, a stylish time-loop metroidbrainia from developer Moonlight Kids, is set to launch on October 8, 2026. Published by Akupara Games, the 2D platforming adventure will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. The game will also be available on day one through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Moonlight Kids, known for The Wild at Heart, is taking a different approach with Echo Weaver. Instead of relying on traditional upgrades, locked abilities, or gear-based progression, the game is built around knowledge. The studio describes it as a “metroidbrainia,” meaning the real progression comes from learning how the world works, discovering hidden paths, understanding its rules, and using that information across repeated time loops.
In Echo Weaver, you play as the last of the Weavers, a mysterious figure trapped in a looping world known as the Gilded Ruin. Unlike many metroidvania-style games, your character does not need to find new tools or powers to advance. Everything you need is available from the beginning. The challenge is figuring out where to go, how to move efficiently, and how to use each loop to uncover more of the world’s secrets.
Time is one of the game’s most important resources. Each loop gives players a limited window to explore, experiment, and push deeper into the ruins. Pickups can extend the loop, while remaining time can be spent on healing, trading, and opening new routes. This creates a constant sense of decision-making, where every second matters.
The Weaver is also bonded to an alien glaive that unlocks reality-bending abilities. These powers shape both exploration and movement, giving players new ways to test routes and refine their approach with each reset. Rather than focusing purely on fast reflexes, Echo Weaver emphasizes rhythm, route planning, and mastery through repetition. The ultimate goal is to create the perfect loop and finally escape.
The game’s setting, the Gilded Ruin, is built around the remains of a failed utopian dream. As the last Weaver attempts to rebuild paradise, they encounter strange survivors also trapped within the time loop. Among them are a pizza-slinging cat who helps guide players through the ruins, a stubborn leader protecting a group of refugees, and a doom-preaching cleric convinced that the end is near.
Echo Weaver appears designed for players who enjoy mystery-driven exploration, clever world design, and games where discovery is its own reward. Its blend of time-loop mechanics, 2D platforming, and knowledge-based progression could make it especially appealing to fans of atmospheric puzzle adventures and exploration-focused platformers.
The PC requirements are modest, making the game accessible to a wide range of players. On Windows, Echo Weaver requires Windows 10 or later, an Intel Core i3-9300T or AMD FX 8350 processor, 4 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 660 or AMD R7 260X graphics card, and 4 GB of available storage.
For macOS, the game requires Big Sur or later, an Apple M1 or Intel Core i7 processor, 4 GB of RAM, Intel UHD Graphics 630, and 4 GB of storage.
Players interested in trying Echo Weaver before release can check out the free PC demo ahead of its October 8 launch. With its unique time-loop structure, secret-driven progression, and dreamlike ruined world, Echo Weaver is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing indie platformers of 2026.
