Ecco the Dolphin Returns: Multiple New Games Officially in the Works

Ecco the Dolphin is officially swimming back into the spotlight. Independent developer A&R Atelier, led by original creator Ed Annunziata, has confirmed the studio is actively working on several brand-new games set in the beloved Ecco the Dolphin franchise.

While details about the upcoming titles are still being kept secret, the announcement makes it clear that this is more than a one-off revival. A&R Atelier also revealed that new Ecco the Dolphin products are on the way, signaling a broader return for the classic series that first made waves in 1992.

The original Ecco the Dolphin launched to strong critical and commercial success, earning a special place in gaming history for its unique atmosphere, emotional tone, and adventurous sci-fi storytelling. Annunziata emphasized that same identity in the studio’s announcement, describing Ecco as something deeper than a typical video game hero.

“It has been years in the making and we’re honored to bring Ecco back,” said Ed Annunziata, Chief Creative Officer of A&R Atelier. “Ecco has always been more than a game about a dolphin—he’s a bridge between worlds.”

This update follows earlier comments from Annunziata teasing a renewed future for the franchise, including plans for remasters of the first two Ecco the Dolphin games and then an official third sequel to continue the storyline.

To coincide with the news, an official Ecco the Dolphin website has gone live, along with a newly launched official Discord community, giving longtime fans and newcomers a central place to follow updates as the next chapter of Ecco takes shape.
