EA FC 26 shatters launch records as 2025’s fastest-selling sports game on PlayStation
EA FC 26 is off to a blistering start. A new report from Alinea Analytics shows the football sim sold more than 5.5 million copies on PlayStation in its first week, making it the fastest-selling sports title on the platform in 2025.
The momentum isn’t limited to one console. Across all platforms, EA FC 26 has already surpassed 9 million downloads worldwide shortly after launch. PlayStation currently leads the charge with 67.5% of total copies sold, followed by Xbox at 26.9%, while Steam on PC accounts for 5.7%.
Stacked against other big-name sports releases this year, EA FC 26 is in a league of its own. First-week PlayStation sales alone outpaced the combined launch sales of NBA, College Football, MLB The Show, and Madden on the same platform. It’s also running 1.4 times faster than last year’s EA FC 25 during the equivalent launch window, signaling stronger demand and wider adoption among football fans.
These early numbers suggest EA FC 26 has the makings of a long-term hit, with PlayStation users driving the bulk of purchases and strong cross-platform traction helping push the series to new highs. With launch buzz translating into rapid sales, the key question now is how long the streak can continue as the season unfolds.
