GameMT’s E5 Ultra is here, bringing a bigger performance boost to the company’s compact retro handheld line. It looks a lot like the earlier E5 Plus, but under the hood it’s a different story.
The headline upgrade is the move from Rockchip’s RK3566 to the Unisoc T620. This newer chip pairs two Cortex-A75 cores with six Cortex-A55 cores and a Mali-G57 MP1 GPU, a combo that noticeably improves emulation performance. In practical terms, the E5 Ultra can tackle classic systems comfortably and, for many titles, stretch up toward Nintendo GameCube and Sony PlayStation 2, depending on settings and expectations. All of that plays out on a pocketable 5-inch 720p display.
Controls and comfort also get attention. The E5 Ultra adds another Hall effect joystick for smooth, drift-resistant input, a welcome upgrade for precise platformers and 3D games. It’s backed by 6 GB of RAM and a 5,000 mAh battery to keep longer sessions going. Out of the box, the handheld runs Android 14, opening the door to modern emulator apps, cloud gaming services, and the usual Android ecosystem. It lands in a similar performance class to devices like the Kinhank K56, but targets a more aggressive price point.
Speaking of price, the E5 Ultra is already showing up on major marketplaces such as AliExpress and Banggood, typically ranging from about $113 to around $140 before discounts. Buyers can choose from black, grey, or white finishes.
If you’ve been waiting for an affordable Android 14 retro gaming handheld with drift-free sticks and enough power to flirt with GameCube and PS2-era emulation, the GameMT E5 Ultra hits a sweet spot. Compact size, modern internals, and wallet-friendly pricing make it an appealing pickup for newcomers and seasoned handheld collectors alike.
