Dreadmoor brings survival horror to a flooded world of fishing, monsters, and mystery
Dreadmoor is shaping up to be one of the most atmospheric indie games on the horizon. Developed by newcomer studio Dream Dock, this upcoming first-person fishing adventure blends survival mechanics, exploration, crafting, and Lovecraft-inspired horror into a bleak post-apocalyptic setting where the ocean is anything but peaceful.
While the game may look familiar to fans of dark fishing adventures, Dreadmoor appears to push much deeper into survival horror territory. Players will navigate a drowned world filled with ruined coastlines, abandoned settlements, shadowy caves, and broken shipwrecks, all while trying to stay alive against threats both above and below the water.
Fishing is at the heart of Dreadmoor, but this is not a calm escape into nature. The waters are filled with disturbing creatures, many of them grotesque, aggressive, and dangerous. Each fishing trip could bring valuable resources or something far more terrifying to the surface.
Survival plays a major role in the experience. Players will need to gather materials, craft useful equipment, upgrade and customize their boats, and trade with NPCs they encounter along the way. Combat and defense also appear to be important, as monsters roam across land and sea, turning every journey into a risk.
One of Dreadmoor’s strongest features is its oppressive atmosphere. Thick fog, dark waters, ruined environments, and eerie sound design create a constant sense of dread. The game leans heavily into cosmic horror, giving the impression that the world is hiding ancient secrets beneath its flooded surface.
For players who enjoy survival games, horror exploration, boat customization, and unsettling ocean-based adventures, Dreadmoor could be one to watch closely. Its mix of fishing, crafting, mystery, and monster encounters gives it a distinct identity in the indie horror space.
Dreadmoor is currently scheduled to launch on PC via Steam in Q4 2026.
