The Pokemon Company is embarking on an exciting new venture with their latest anime series, “Dragonite and the Mailman.” This heartwarming show puts a beloved Dragonite in the spotlight, serving as a dedicated post office worker. The story introduces viewers to Hana, a young girl captivated by the local Dragonite’s devotion to its postal duties. Her adventure begins when she receives an enigmatic letter with no recipient address, sparking a thrilling quest to uncover its intended sender.
Hana, who is joined by her trusty partner Fuecoco, sets out across the bustling city to solve the mystery. Her journey ultimately leads to Rio, a boy desperate to send a heartfelt message to his father in the faraway Kanto region. With his father’s birthday looming, the urgency to deliver the letter grows, adding a layer of intrigue and emotion to their mission.
“Dragonite and the Mailman” is slated to premiere on the official Pokemon YouTube Channel on February 27th, a significant date for fans known as Pokemon Day. The series boasts an impressive musical backdrop, with Evan Call, noted for his work on “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” and “Violet Evergarden,” crafting the soundtrack. The anime’s theme song, “Kami Hikouki,” is produced by suis, the talented vocalist from Yorushika.
The series is brought to life by CoMix Wave Films, renowned for their stunning productions under the guidance of director Taku Kimura, who will also oversee the storyboards. Kentaro Nana will handle the scriptwriting and series composition, ensuring a cohesive and engaging narrative. Asuka Dokai contributes her expertise as the character designer, while Maho Aoki focuses on animation design and direction.
