The global electronic system design (ESD) industry wrapped up 2025 with solid momentum, posting another quarter of healthy growth and signaling continued demand across the chip and electronics development ecosystem.
New figures from SEMI’s Electronic System Design Alliance, published in the latest Electronic Design Market Data (EDMD) report, show industry revenue climbed to US$5.47 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025. That marks a 10.3% increase compared with the same period a year earlier, highlighting a strong year-end finish for electronic design tools and related services.
Just as important, the report points to stability beyond a single standout quarter. The four-quarter moving average rose 10.1%, reinforcing that the industry’s expansion is being sustained over time rather than driven by a short-term spike. For many observers, that moving average is a useful indicator because it smooths out seasonal swings and offers a clearer view of the broader trend in electronic system design market growth.
Taken together, the double-digit year-over-year revenue increase and the rising multi-quarter average suggest the electronic system design sector entered 2026 with considerable strength, backed by ongoing investment and demand across the wider semiconductor and electronics landscape.
