Disney+ Taps TikTok Creators to Power a New Wave of Fan-Made Short Videos

Disney+ is getting a social media boost as Disney teams up with TikTok to bring fan-created videos into its streaming app. The partnership will begin as a pilot program in the United States in the coming months, with plans to expand to more regions in the future.

Through the new collaboration, TikTok videos made by fans of Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and other major Disney franchises will appear inside Disney+ in the Verts section. Verts is Disney+’s short-form video feed, designed to give subscribers quick, scrollable content similar to what they already enjoy on social platforms.

The move shows Disney’s growing interest in short-form entertainment, especially as streaming services compete more directly with apps like TikTok for audience attention. Viewers, particularly younger audiences, are increasingly used to discovering content through short clips, reactions, edits, and creator-led videos. By bringing that style of content into Disney+, the company is looking to keep fans engaged for longer and make the platform feel more interactive.

Disney has already been working to expand the variety of content available in Verts. The company previously explored ways to let users create short videos featuring Disney characters through a planned licensing deal involving AI-generated video tools, but those plans did not move forward. The TikTok partnership now gives Disney another path toward filling its short-video feed with fresh, fan-driven content.

The deal also highlights Disney’s recognition that many of today’s rising entertainers and storytellers are building their audiences on social media. As part of the newly launched Disney Creator Ambassador Program, selected TikTok creators will gain access to Disney’s large content library, along with opportunities for rewards, greater visibility, exclusive events, and potential career development.

This could give creators a stronger connection to Disney’s entertainment ecosystem while also giving Disney+ a steady stream of fan-focused content that celebrates its biggest brands. For fans, it means Disney+ may soon become a place not only to watch full movies and shows, but also to discover creative videos made by the wider Disney community.

Disney is not the only streaming company looking toward TikTok creators. Other platforms have also worked with social media talent to produce original long-form projects, showing how the line between streaming entertainment and creator content continues to blur.

The announcement comes as Disney reports stronger performance in its streaming business. The company’s subscription video-on-demand operating income more than doubled year over year, reaching $712 million compared with $329 million during the same period last year. Disney is also making internal changes, including moving its consumer products business from the Experiences division to Studios.

By combining TikTok’s creator culture with Disney’s world-famous franchises, the partnership could help Disney+ attract younger viewers, increase engagement, and strengthen its position in the fast-changing streaming market.
