Bandai Namco and Media.Vision have confirmed that Digimon Story Time Stranger is officially heading to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, giving more players a chance to jump into the series’ newest story-driven RPG. The game launches worldwide on July 9 or July 10, depending on your local time zone.
Originally released in October 2025 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, Digimon Story Time Stranger has been positioned as an ideal starting point for RPG fans who are new to Digimon while still offering plenty for longtime followers. You play as an agent of ADAMAS, pulled into a crisis that threatens both the human world and the Digital World. With disaster closing in, your mission is to tame Digimon, build trust with them, and grow stronger together as you push back against a world-shaking event that stretches across two realms and even across time.
Nintendo Switch 2 players will also have performance options designed to fit different playstyles. Quality Mode targets 4K HDR at up to 30 FPS while docked and Full HD at up to 30 FPS in handheld mode. Performance Mode focuses on smoother gameplay, running at Full HD up to 60 FPS both docked and handheld. For a strategic, turn-based RPG where timing and readability matter, that extra fluidity could be a big draw for players who prioritize responsiveness in battles.
Pre-orders come with several bonuses aimed at giving fans extra customization and early team variety. Players who pre-order Digimon Story Time Stranger will receive the Uniform of a Certain School costumes, an Adventure Item set, and two bonus Digimon: Agumon (Black) and Gabumon (Black).
If you’re planning to stick with the game long-term, the Nintendo Switch version also offers a Season Pass that includes three DLC packs. Each pack adds five more Digimon plus an additional story episode, expanding both your roster and the narrative. The Season Pass also includes the Golden Moai farm item, which can be used to decorate the Digifarm. These DLC packs will roll out individually in the months after launch, available to Season Pass owners first, with standalone purchases also planned.
Here’s what’s included in each pre-order edition:
Standard Edition includes the base game, Uniform of a Certain School costumes, Adventure Item set, and Agumon (Black) and Gabumon (Black).
Digital Deluxe Edition includes everything in the Standard Edition, plus Cyber Sleuth Set Costumes and the Season Pass.
Digital Ultimate Edition includes everything in the Digital Deluxe Edition, plus a Costume Pack (with three costumes per character and three additional side missions), early unlocks of special Agumon and Gabumon (with their Digivolution conditions to specific Digimon already unlocked), Public Safety Suit Costumes and a Special Supplies Set, and a Cyber Sleuth BGM Pack.
With its time-crossing premise, a wide lineup of Digimon to discover, and updated systems aimed at making turn-based battles feel fresh and strategic, Digimon Story Time Stranger is shaping up to be one of the most exciting anime-style RPG releases coming to Switch and Switch 2 this year.
