The patch is labeled version 3.1.0.1, and while the official notes are short, the fixes target two problems that were actively disrupting players—especially anyone trying to play online across regions or claim promotional rewards on Steam.
Cross-region matchmaking is working again
One of the most noticeable issues addressed in Hotfix 1 involves multiplayer game joining. Blizzard says it has resolved a bug that prevented players from joining games when they were in different regions. The company didn’t detail which regions were affected or how widespread the problem was, but for anyone who plays with friends internationally—or frequently hops between region-based lobbies—this should immediately improve online reliability.
Steam promotional items should now be delivered properly
The hotfix also focuses on Steam players who weren’t receiving cross-promotional items. Blizzard states the delivery issue has been fixed, although the patch notes don’t specify which promo items were impacted or whether players need to restart the game to trigger the rewards. If you were expecting bonus items tied to a promotion and nothing showed up, this update is aimed directly at that problem.
Hotfix timing: arriving during the Reign of the Warlock update cycle
This patch lands soon after the Reign of the Warlock update, which introduced a new Warlock class along with additional changes. Blizzard’s announcement around that update also references cross-game rewards connected to specific purchases, which helps explain why a Steam reward-delivery fix would be important right now—even if the hotfix notes don’t name the exact items.
Blizzard has also acknowledged that some players are reporting crashes when launching the Reign of the Warlock version and says it’s investigating those reports separately. This hotfix doesn’t mention crash fixes, so players affected by launch issues may need to wait for a follow-up update.
Diablo II: Resurrected appears included with Xbox Game Pass for PC
PC players may also notice a major availability change: the official Xbox store listing for the PC version shows Diablo II: Resurrected included with Game Pass subscriptions. The listing indicates availability across multiple Game Pass tiers, including Premium, Ultimate, and PC options, giving subscribers another way to jump in without purchasing the game separately.
Season 13 Ladder start date is already locked in
For Ladder fans tracking resets, Blizzard has already confirmed the Season 13 schedule. Season 12 ended on February 11, 2026, and Season 13 is set to begin on February 20, 2026, with region-specific start times provided in the official timing announcement.
Between cross-region matchmaking being restored, Steam promo rewards returning to normal, and the upcoming Ladder reset, Hotfix 1 is a small patch with a timely impact—especially for players trying to stay connected and keep their accounts up to date during the current update cycle.
