Deified Brings Relic-Driven Tactical Battles Out of Early Access Next Week

Deified, the turn-based tactical roguelite from French studio Unexpected, is set to launch its full 1.0 version on Steam on September 21. The release will mark the end of its Early Access phase, which began on April 27 and gave the developers time to polish the game with direct input from players.

During Early Access, Unexpected focused on improving key areas such as game balance, user interface, readability, and overall quality-of-life features. Community feedback played a major role in shaping the final version, helping the studio refine the tactical experience and make each run feel smoother and more rewarding.

In Deified, players take control of Sator, a powerful figure on a mission to reclaim the Gold of the Rhine from seven corrupted Lords. The game’s combat system stands out by removing familiar restrictions such as mana, action points, and standard cooldowns. Instead, each turn is shaped by positioning, tactical choices, and the relics the player has equipped.

Relics are central to Deified’s strategy. Each one occupies a slot and comes with both strengths and weaknesses, forcing players to think carefully about their build. Matching fragments can be combined to repair and enhance artifacts, while collecting relics from the same set unlocks additional synergies. This system encourages experimentation and gives every run a different tactical flavor.

The full release will also add major content planned for version 1.0, including the narrative ending, a final boss floor, and hidden content that was not available during Early Access. Alongside these additions, players can expect expanded progression through skill trees and unlockable rooms, which introduce new options across future runs.

With its mix of turn-based tactics, roguelite progression, relic-based strategy, and evolving builds, Deified aims to offer a fresh challenge for players who enjoy thoughtful combat and replayable dungeon runs. Its full Steam release on September 21 should give both returning players and newcomers the complete experience Unexpected has been building toward.
