Dangbei, a company known for its projectors, has recently introduced the X5SPro, a 4K laser projector designed for both home theatre enthusiasts and professional settings. The launch in China marks an advancement in their lineup of projectors, with the X5SPro being touted as an ideal solution for viewing cinematic content, indulging in gaming experiences, or enhancing presentations in offices.
At the core of the X5SPro is the impressive MT9679 chip, which the company deems a flagship processor for this kind of device. Notably, the projector features cutting-edge laser technology with an ALPD laser light source capable of providing a brightness of up to 3,300 CVIA or 2,250 lumens. This ensures vibrant and clear imagery, especially for high-resolution content.
With a 4K resolution, the projector offers superb image quality, which is likely achieved through advanced pixel-shifting technology. One of the notable features includes 120Hz MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation), giving users a smoother viewing experience, particularly noticeable during fast-paced scenes in movies or games. HDR10+ support is also a key feature, enabling a wider range of colors and better contrast levels.
The Dangbei X5SPro can cast an impressive image size of up to 300 inches, making it suitable for large spaces, and it boasts a 1.27:1 throw ratio for flexibility in placement. It’s also been described as a super PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) projector with its ability to rotate 360 degrees and tilt by 120 degrees, offering convenience in adjusting the image position.
This projector stands out with its automatic image adjustment capabilities, including autofocus and screen fit, adding to the ease of setup. These smart features are powered by AI and are complementally capable of obstacle avoidance through the integration of a dToF LiDAR sensor, ensuring that projections are not hindered by objects in the space.
Running on Android 11, the device comes with Dangbei’s in-house operating system, Dangbei OS 4.2. Users will also find the air gesture controls quite innovative, which, alongside Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, make for a seamless user experience.
For audio, the projector is not lacking, with dual 12W speakers that are compatible with both Dolby Audio and DTS:X, aiming to provide a rich sound that matches the visual quality. A range of ports is available, including HDMI 2.1 (eARC) for high-quality audio pass-through and USB 3.0 for connecting various devices.
In China, customers can pre-order the Dangbei X5SPro 4K laser projector with an initial deposit to secure a discounted price, which translates to around $900. However, the company has not yet disclosed specific plans for a launch in other markets, including the United States, where it already sells other models like the Atom 1080P Laser Projector.
