Co-publishers ByteRockers’ Games and PARCO GAMES, alongside developer bildundtonfabrik, have officially confirmed the console release date for Constance, their hand-crafted side-scrolling platforming action game with a striking paint-powered twist.
Constance launches on May 1 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch (including Switch 2). The game first arrived on Windows PC in November 2025, and the upcoming console release brings its flow-focused movement, combat, and story-driven themes to a wider audience.
At its core, Constance is built around fluid, “flow-state” gameplay that blends platforming and fighting into one fast, expressive rhythm. You can transform into paint to slip into the ground and walls, cut through the air, and carve through enemies using a range of distinctive brush techniques. It’s designed to feel smooth and creative, turning movement into something you’ll want to master rather than simply endure.
But there’s a catch: every time you lean on those brush techniques, your paint becomes corrupted. Overuse them and the corruption can fully take over, forcing you to play smarter, not just flashier. The game pushes you to find balance—using your powers strategically while still keeping that high-speed momentum that makes the action so satisfying.
Progression is tied to unlocking new brush techniques, defeating dangerous foes, tackling demanding platforming sequences, and solving more complex puzzles as you go. As Constance grows stronger, you’ll also peel back the layers of her past, with the game’s colorful yet decaying inner-world reflecting the protagonist’s worsening mental health and her struggle to break free from it. The result is an action platformer that’s not only visually inventive, but also rooted in deeper emotional stakes.
Exploration is a big part of the experience. You’ll travel through more than six distinct biomes inside Constance’s inner-world, each with its own enemies and characters that represent different parts of her psyche and personal history. Expect a nonlinear, interconnected world with multiple paths, hidden secrets, side quests, collectibles, and intense boss battles that test everything you’ve learned.
With its paint-based movement, risk-and-reward combat system, and story themes woven directly into the world design, Constance is shaping up to be a standout choice for fans of action platformers who want something both mechanically fresh and meaningfully atmospheric when it hits consoles on May 1.
