The Commodore 64 remains one of the most renowned home computers in history. Now, it’s available for pre-order as the Commodore 64 Ultimate, with pricing set at $299.99 and deliveries expected between October and November 2025.
Engineered for wide compatibility, the Ultimate edition supports at least 99% of cartridges, games, and accessories from the 1980s and 1990s. While the original processor isn’t utilized, the device runs on an AMD Xilinx Artix-7 FPGA, complemented by 128 MB of DDR2 RAM and 16 MB of flash storage. It offers video output options through HDMI and DIN-8 connectors, allowing fans to relive the golden days on a vintage tube TV. USB storage is also supported, along with emulation for cassette drives, data cassettes, and floppy disks.
Audio features include a 3.5mm jack and optical S/PDIF, with integrated Ethernet and Wi-Fi for seamless connectivity. The keyboard pays homage to the original design but enhances the experience with mechanical Gateron Pro 3.0 switches and RGB lighting.
