Code Vein II Mask of Idris DLC launches with Version 2.0 update, adding new story content, Jadwiga, boss trials, and more
Bandai Namco has launched the Code Vein II Mask of Idris story expansion alongside the free Version 2.0 update, bringing a major wave of new content to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Released on September 9, 2026, the expansion introduces a separate storyline outside the main campaign, fresh allies, new weapons, additional Formae, and challenging post-game activities.
The Mask of Idris DLC is available as part of the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of Code Vein II, while players can also purchase it separately. For fans looking for more lore, tougher battles, and expanded character options, this update marks one of the biggest additions to the action RPG so far.
The expansion takes players into the Forsaken World, a broken dimension created from the remains of erased timelines. This mysterious realm is tied to the Spindle of Pathos, a dangerous force that threatens to destabilize reality itself. As players explore this fractured world, they must uncover the truth behind its collapse and fight to prevent further damage to the timeline.
Mask of Idris also adds two new companion characters. Liv Voda, a former guardian of the Temporal Rift and half-sister of Valentin Voda, enters the story with a fast, aggressive fighting style built around halberd attacks. Players will also encounter an alternate-timeline version of Lou MagMell, adding another layer of intrigue to the expansion’s time-bending narrative.
New combat rewards are included as players progress through the DLC. Among the additions are the Sword of Karma, a powerful flame-imbued greatsword, and Grave Knocker, an aerial martial arts technique that creates shockwaves capable of staggering multiple enemies. These new tools give players more ways to experiment with builds and adapt to the expansion’s tougher encounters.
To start the Code Vein II Mask of Idris DLC, players must first reach the Luna Fraterna ending in the main story and complete Valentin’s request sub-mission. After finishing the expansion, players will unlock alternate outfit colors for all 14 partner characters, offering more customization options for the full companion roster.
Alongside the paid expansion, the free Code Vein II Version 2.0 update introduces The Age of Harmony, a new epilogue that expands the post-game experience. This added chapter includes fresh episodes for each partner, giving players more insight into their allies and extending the world beyond the original ending.
One of the biggest additions in Version 2.0 is Trials of Remembrance, a new boss rush mode designed for players who want to test their skills against powerful enemies. Completing these battles rewards materials used to unlock more than 90 new character customization parts, making it a strong incentive for players who enjoy fine-tuning their character’s appearance.
Jadwiga also becomes a fully summonable partner in the Version 2.0 update. Previously limited to an Assimilation summon, the witch can now join players as a full companion after her episode in The Age of Harmony is completed. Jadwiga fights with a two-handed greatsword and quick-casting Formae, making her a versatile partner for both heavy damage and fast magical support.
The update also adds a story-focused mode for players who prefer a more accessible experience. This mode strengthens the player character, allowing fans to enjoy the narrative and exploration with less pressure from difficult combat encounters.
Music fans will find the returning Jukebox feature packed with tracks from Code Vein, Code Vein II, and the God Eater series. The update also includes a legacy character shader that recreates the anime-inspired visual style of the original Code Vein, offering longtime fans a nostalgic way to experience the sequel.
Photo Mode has been expanded as well, adding more than 30 new poses and over 20 frames. With the new outfits, shader options, and customization parts, players now have even more tools to capture stylish screenshots and show off their characters.
With the Mask of Idris DLC and the free Version 2.0 update, Code Vein II receives a substantial content boost. Between the Forsaken World storyline, new companions, Jadwiga’s full partner role, boss rush challenges, expanded customization, and visual upgrades, this release gives both returning players and dedicated fans plenty of reasons to jump back into the game.
