ChatGPT Unveils Its Own Spotify-Wrapped-Style Year‑End Recap

ChatGPT is getting its own “Spotify Wrapped”-style moment.

OpenAI is rolling out a new year-in-review experience called “Your Year with ChatGPT,” giving eligible users a personalized look back at how they used the chatbot over the past year. The feature is launching in select markets, starting with the United States, and is also arriving in other English-speaking regions including Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand.

“Your Year with ChatGPT” is available to people on Free, Plus, and Pro plans, but there’s a catch: users need to have certain settings enabled. To qualify, you must have both “reference saved memories” and “reference chat history” turned on, and you also need to meet a minimum level of conversation activity. On the other hand, those using Team, Enterprise, or Education accounts won’t have access to the feature.

OpenAI says the experience is designed to be lightweight, privacy-forward, and user-controlled. In practical terms, it’s not something that pops up and forces you into a recap the moment you open the app. Instead, it will be promoted on the ChatGPT home screen, and you can choose whether or not to open it. You can also trigger it manually by asking ChatGPT for “Your Year with ChatGPT.”

So what’s inside this ChatGPT year-end recap? Much like other popular annual review features, it leans into fun visuals and personalized insights. Users can receive playful “awards” based on how they interacted with ChatGPT during the year. For example, if you often used it to troubleshoot issues, work through ideas, or map out solutions, you might earn a title like “Creative Debugger.”

The recap also includes creative extras tailored to your interests, including a poem and an image inspired by the themes you spent the most time on. It’s meant to feel personal and shareable, while still keeping the experience optional.

“Your Year with ChatGPT” will be accessible on the ChatGPT web app as well as the mobile apps on iOS and Android, making it easy to view your recap wherever you normally use the assistant.
