Casio G-Shock Red Lantern Series Arrives in the US With Bold Japanese-Inspired Design
Casio has brought its eye-catching G-Shock Red Lantern series to the United States, giving American watch fans access to two striking new models: the G-Shock DW-6900AKA-4 and G-Shock DW-5600AKA-4. Both watches are now available for $190 and bring a vivid design inspired by traditional Japanese red paper lanterns.
The collection first appeared in Japan earlier this year and is part of Casio’s Aka-Chochin series. The name refers to the red lanterns often seen hanging outside Japanese taverns and casual dining spots, making these watches a wearable tribute to a familiar piece of Japanese nightlife culture.
Both the DW-6900AKA-4 and DW-5600AKA-4 feature a bold red resin case and strap, immediately setting them apart from more conventional G-Shock models. Black details add contrast across the design, including the buttons, band loops, and Japanese characters that translate to “shock resistant.” Even the LED backlight continues the theme with a red-tinted glow that enhances the lantern-inspired look when the display is illuminated.
The DW-5600AKA-4 keeps the classic square-shaped G-Shock profile that has remained popular for decades, while the DW-6900AKA-4 uses the familiar rounded case design with triple circular graphics above the digital display. Despite their different silhouettes, both models deliver the durability and everyday functionality that G-Shock buyers expect.
Key features include a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, digital display, shock-resistant construction, and 200-meter water resistance. Alongside the Red Lantern launch, Casio has also introduced a new G-Shock Bold Camo collection in the US. This rugged lineup includes four models: the DW6900CMG-3, GA700CMG-3A, GAV01CMG-3A, and GM6900CMG-3. Prices range from $145 to $280, depending on the model.
The Bold Camo watches continue G-Shock’s focus on tough styling and practical durability, with each purchase currently including a complimentary G-Shock camo pouch. This gives buyers another option if they prefer a military-inspired look over the bright red Japanese lantern theme.
