Casio A1000SP-7 Full-Metal Classic Watch Launches With Sapphire Crystal and Retro Digital Style
Casio has officially released its new A1000SP-7, a premium take on the brand’s classic digital watch design. After appearing on Casio’s global website earlier this month, the model is now available in several major markets, including India, China, and Europe.
The Casio A1000SP-7 is priced at ₹16,995 in India, CNY 1,690 in China, and €199 in Europe. At the moment, Casio has not confirmed when or if the watch will launch in the United States.
The biggest attraction of the A1000SP-7 is its full-metal design. Casio has equipped the watch with a stainless steel case and bracelet, giving it a more premium feel than models with resin straps. The watch measures just 7.3 mm thick, keeping the profile slim and easy to wear, although its 101 g weight means it will feel noticeably more substantial on the wrist.
Casio has also upgraded the front glass on this SP model. Instead of the mineral glass found on many existing A1000 watches, the A1000SP-7 uses sapphire crystal. This is a welcome improvement for buyers who want better scratch resistance and a more durable everyday watch.
The dial design is another highlight. Casio combines a sunburst-finished brass dial with striped vapor deposition applied to the underside of the sapphire crystal. This creates a layered, textured appearance that changes depending on the light, giving the watch a more refined and eye-catching look while still keeping its retro digital identity.
The stainless steel bracelet also adds to the premium styling. It features a mix of satin and mirror finishes, creating a contrast between matte and polished surfaces. Casio has included a one-touch three-fold clasp, making the bracelet simple to open and close while keeping it secure on the wrist.
In terms of features, the Casio A1000SP-7 keeps the practical functions that fans expect from a classic Casio digital watch. It includes a Super Illuminator LED backlight for improved visibility in low light, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a daily alarm, an hourly time signal, and an automatic calendar that runs through the year 2099.
One area where the watch may disappoint some buyers is battery life. Despite its higher price and premium materials, the A1000SP-7 is rated for around three years of use on a CR1616 battery. That is serviceable, but not especially impressive compared with some other Casio digital watches known for longer battery performance.
Casio is also giving the A1000SP-7 special packaging, which helps position it as a more premium classic model rather than a standard digital release. With its stainless steel construction, sapphire crystal, distinctive dial treatment, and slim retro-inspired design, the A1000SP-7 is aimed at buyers who want a stylish digital watch with a more upscale feel.
