BYD Celebrates 10 Million Sales With a 626-Mile EV Flagship Priced at Just $37,000

BYD Da Han arrives with 626-mile range, ultra-fast charging, and luxury EV ambitions

BYD is making a bold statement in the electric vehicle market with the Da Han, a new luxury-focused EV that combines long-range driving, rapid charging, high performance, and premium features at a highly competitive price.

The entry-level rear-wheel-drive Da Han starts at around $37,100 and offers an impressive 626-mile driving range under China’s test cycle. That figure positions it as a serious contender among long-range electric sedans, especially for buyers looking for premium technology without the traditional luxury-brand price tag.

At the heart of the base model is a 102.3 kWh second-generation Blade battery. BYD’s Blade battery technology is known for prioritizing safety, durability, and improved energy density, making it one of the company’s key advantages in the global EV race.

For drivers who want maximum performance, the top all-wheel-drive version takes things much further. Priced at just under $44,500, it delivers 764 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds. That puts the Da Han in high-performance EV territory while keeping its price well below many premium electric sedans from established brands.

One of the most eye-catching features is its advanced 1,000-volt electrical architecture. When connected to a compatible megawatt charger, the Da Han can charge from 10 percent to 97 percent in just nine minutes. If real-world charging performance comes close to that claim, it could significantly reduce one of the biggest concerns for EV buyers: charging time.

BYD has also equipped every Da Han model with an impressive list of standard technology. Dual-chamber air suspension is included across the range, offering 3.9 inches of height adjustment for improved comfort and versatility. Rear-wheel steering is also standard, helping improve maneuverability in tight spaces and stability at higher speeds.

The Da Han also includes a LiDAR-based driver assistance system, showing BYD’s push toward more advanced semi-autonomous driving features. Inside, the car leans heavily into luxury, offering zero-gravity seats, Nappa leather upholstery, and a 31-speaker audio system designed to create a high-end cabin experience.

The launch of the Da Han comes as BYD celebrates the production of 10 million vehicles in its Dynasty series, a major milestone that highlights the company’s rapid growth. Once known mainly for affordable electric cars and plug-in hybrids, BYD is now moving aggressively into the premium EV space.

It remains unclear whether the Da Han will be offered in Europe or other global markets. If it does arrive internationally, it could become a strong rival to models such as the Volkswagen ID.7 and BMW i5, especially if BYD can maintain its competitive pricing, long range, and fast-charging capabilities.

With the Da Han, BYD is sending a clear message: it no longer wants to compete only on value. It is now aiming directly at luxury electric sedans from established automakers, offering high-end technology, serious performance, and long-distance capability in one package.
