Bose TV Speaker 2nd Gen Launches With Upgraded Audio, Cleaner Design, and Dialogue Mode
Bose has introduced the TV Speaker 2nd Gen, a refreshed version of its compact wireless soundbar designed to deliver clearer TV audio without taking up much space. The new model arrives with a price of $299, placing it only slightly above the original Bose TV Speaker while bringing a few meaningful upgrades for everyday home entertainment.
The biggest improvement is the updated speaker system. While the first-generation Bose TV Speaker used a two-speaker setup, the TV Speaker 2nd Gen adds a center tweeter. This extra driver is aimed at improving vocal clarity, especially in movies, TV shows, news, sports, and other dialogue-heavy content. Bose says the new model delivers better overall sound quality compared to the previous version.
To make voices even easier to hear, the soundbar includes a dedicated Dialogue Mode. This feature is designed to separate speech from background effects, music, and ambient noise, helping viewers follow conversations more clearly without constantly adjusting the volume. For users who often struggle to hear dialogue in films or streaming shows, this could be one of the most useful upgrades.
Bose also claims the TV Speaker 2nd Gen can produce clearer sound with deeper bass. However, users who want a more powerful low-end experience can expand the system with a separate subwoofer. The new soundbar is compatible with Bose Bass Module 700 and the Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer, giving buyers the option to build a stronger home theater setup over time.
In terms of design, the Bose TV Speaker 2nd Gen keeps the same compact dimensions as the original model, making it a good fit for smaller TV stands, bedrooms, apartments, or minimalist entertainment setups. The overall shape has been refined with a rounder look, giving it a softer and more modern appearance compared to the boxier first-generation version.
Connectivity remains straightforward. The soundbar includes HDMI, optical input, and bass output for wired connections. It also supports Bluetooth for wireless audio playback, allowing users to stream music, podcasts, or other content from a smartphone, tablet, or compatible device. Bose has not confirmed which Bluetooth version is used, so it is unclear whether wireless performance has changed from the previous generation.

For new buyers looking for a compact soundbar with improved dialogue clarity, a sleeker design, and expandable bass options, the upgraded version could be a strong choice. The addition of a center tweeter and Dialogue Mode makes it especially appealing for people who want clearer voices from their TV without investing in a larger, more complex surround sound system.
However, owners of the first-generation Bose TV Speaker may not need to rush into an upgrade. While the new model does offer useful refinements, the changes are relatively modest.
