Boox Note X6 teaser reveals a major performance upgrade ahead of May 27 launch
Boox is preparing to introduce its next ePaper notebook, the Boox Note X6, and the company has now shared one of the most important details ahead of the official reveal: the processor. Based on the latest teaser, the upcoming E Ink tablet should deliver a significant performance jump over the previous Note X5.
The Boox Note X6 will be powered by a Snapdragon-branded 4nm processor referred to in the teaser as the Snapdragon 6690. The chip features a CPU clocked at up to 2.9GHz, and Boox claims it brings a 78% performance improvement compared with the prior generation. For users who rely on an E Ink tablet for reading, writing, note-taking, document management, and multitasking, that kind of upgrade could make the device feel noticeably faster and more responsive.
The processor is also known as the Dragonwing Q-6690, a Qualcomm platform designed for enterprise-focused devices such as tablets, smart displays, POS terminals, and electronic cash registers. It includes eight Kryo 7-series CPU cores, an Adreno GPU clocked at 1.15GHz, and a 6 TOPS NPU for AI-related processing. Connectivity is also modern, with support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
One of the more unusual features of the chip is its fully integrated UHF RAIN RFID capability, which is aimed mainly at business and industrial use cases. While it is not yet clear how Boox plans to use this feature in the Note X6, the hardware platform suggests the device could offer more than a simple generational refresh.
The Boox Note X6 is expected to be a new ePaper notebook built for users who want a distraction-free writing and reading experience with stronger performance than earlier models. Faster processing could improve page turns, handwriting response, app loading, file handling, and overall system fluidity.
There are still several details Boox has not confirmed, including the display size, battery capacity, RAM, storage options, stylus features, software improvements, and pricing. However, with the official launch scheduled for May 27, more teasers are likely to appear before the full announcement.
For now, the biggest takeaway is clear: the Boox Note X6 is shaping up to be a faster and more capable E Ink tablet, with a new 4nm Snapdragon-class processor at the center of its upgrade.
