Boost Your Gameplay with MSI’s “X3D Gaming Mode” for Ryzen 3D V-Cache CPUs

MSI has unveiled an exciting new feature, the “X3D Gaming Mode,” designed to significantly enhance the gaming experience for those using the Ryzen 3D V-Cache CPUs. This enhancement promises an impressive performance boost, especially when operating either single or dual CCD Ryzen processors.

Motherboard giants like Gigabyte and ASUS have already unleashed their AGESA 1.2.0.2a BIOS firmware, which includes enhancements tailored for the recently launched AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Known for its remarkable speed, this CPU has quickly captivated the gaming community, causing a stock shortage due to overwhelming demand. However, MSI is stepping in to elevate the performance of both current and forthcoming Ryzen 3D V-Cache CPUs.

The X3D Gaming Mode from MSI aims to optimize gaming performance by allowing users to disable either the other CCD or SMT, similar to offerings from other major brands. This mode will shine particularly when utilized with dual CCD processors like the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Ryzen 9 7900X3D, and the upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Interestingly enough, even systems with a single CCD can reap the benefits.

In hands-on tests with a pre-release version of this BIOS feature operating alongside the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, there was a noticeable performance leap. For instance, using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 at 1080p Ultra Settings, Far Cry 6 displayed a remarkable 20% improvement, pushing the average FPS from 219 to 263. However, the extent of the performance gains does vary with each game, with Shadow of The Tomb Raider exhibiting a 10% increase.

Currently, MSI has incorporated the “X3D Gaming Mode” within three of its top X870 and X870E motherboards: the MEG X870E GODLIKE, MPG X870E Carbon Wi-Fi, and the MAG X870 Tomahawk Wi-Fi. These models, along with a few others, should have the updated BIOS ready for release shortly.

As AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the 3D V-Cache CPUs already stand out in the gaming scene, every additional enhancement is a welcome advantage. It’s encouraging to observe that motherboard manufacturers are continuously innovating to further increase the gaming prowess of Ryzen X3D CPUs, offering gamers an enriched in-game experience.
