Birushana: Winds of Fate

Birushana: Winds of Fate Blows West This May: Launch Date Revealed

Idea Factory International and Red Entertainment have confirmed the western release date for Birushana: Winds of Fate, the newest otome visual novel entry in the Birushana series. The game launches on Nintendo Switch on May 26, arriving both digitally and physically. Fans will be able to choose between a Standard edition and a Plus edition.

Set fifteen years after the Heiji Rebellion, Birushana: Winds of Fate returns to a Japan reshaped by conflict. The Heike clan now stands at the peak of its dominance, while the Genji clan is still reeling from a crushing defeat. Far from the centers of power, deep in the mountains of Kurama, a young heir named Shanao lives in hiding as the last surviving “male” successor to the Genji name.

But Shanao’s existence is built on a secret only a handful of people know: the youngest Genji heir is not a man.

Birushana: Winds of Fate expands the story through two major pillars designed to satisfy both returning players and newcomers looking for more romance-driven historical drama: Epilogues and Main Routes.

The Epilogues pick up after the events of the previous title, when the war has ended and peace has begun to settle back over the land. After Shanao fights to carve out a new fate, these routes explore what comes next—how love holds up once swords are put away, and what future awaits a girl raised for battle.

Meanwhile, the Main Routes shift the focus back to the era of war with brand-new storylines. Shanao, forced out of Kyoto by the Heike, continues to hide her identity and live as a man in a fractured world. As her journey continues, new perspectives emerge, new bonds form, and new romances become possible—especially with the introduction of four new love interests, including the Sato brothers.

In total, Birushana: Winds of Fate features nine routes to explore. Four are all-new Main Routes with fresh love interests, while five routes serve as Epilogues featuring returning romance options. Player choice also plays a major role throughout the new routes, with decisions affecting affection levels and ultimately shaping the ending you receive, adding replay value for anyone aiming to see every outcome.

With its combination of post-war sweetness, high-stakes historical storytelling, and multiple romance paths, Birushana: Winds of Fate is positioned as a must-play for otome game fans on Nintendo Switch—especially for players eager to return to Shanao’s world and discover what fate has in store next.
