Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to prove that a great role-playing game can have an incredibly long life. Since its launch in August 2023, Larian Studios’ award-winning RPG has grown from a major release into one of the most successful games of the decade, and its latest reported sales milestone is another reminder of its staying power.
New data from Alinea Analytics suggests that Baldur’s Gate 3 has now sold approximately 23.2 million copies across all platforms. That figure marks a huge jump from the more than 15 million copies the game had reportedly sold by September last year. Even more impressively, the game is estimated to have generated over $1.2 billion in revenue.
Steam remains the clear leader for Baldur’s Gate 3 sales. According to the data, around 18.7 million copies have been sold on the platform, making up about 80.6% of the game’s total sales. PlayStation 5 comes next with roughly 2.9 million copies sold, while Xbox has contributed another 1.6 million copies.
The success of Baldur’s Gate 3 is not limited to sales numbers. The game continues to maintain a highly active player base years after release, which is rare for a single-player-focused RPG. Alinea Analytics reports that the monthly active player count has never fallen below 2 million across all platforms. Last month, the game still attracted around 2.2 million monthly active users, with Steam again representing the largest share of the audience.
Daily engagement also remains strong. Baldur’s Gate 3 reportedly brings in between 280,000 and 400,000 players per day, showing that fans are still returning for new playthroughs, character builds, choices, and multiplayer campaigns. The game’s deep storytelling, tactical combat, and enormous replay value have helped it stay relevant long after launch.
Another striking statistic is the dedication of its most committed players. Around 1% of the player base, which equals just under 200,000 people, have reportedly spent more than 500 hours playing Baldur’s Gate 3. That level of engagement highlights how much content the RPG offers and how strongly it has connected with fans of fantasy, Dungeons & Dragons-inspired adventures, and choice-driven storytelling.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has already earned widespread recognition for its writing, characters, world design, and player freedom. With more than 23 million copies sold and millions of active players still exploring the Forgotten Realms, Larian Studios’ hit RPG continues to stand as one of the biggest success stories in modern gaming.
