AYN is giving handheld gaming fans an early look at the Thor, a dual-screen Android device built around two AMOLED touch displays. A new video of a working prototype shows the Thor multitasking, emulating classic Nintendo handhelds, and revealing a suite of thoughtful software features designed for portable play.
In the demo, the Thor runs a game on one screen while streaming video on the other, and swapping content between displays is quick and intuitive. A Focus Mode menu lets you lock attention to either screen or set it to auto, where the primary display becomes whichever one you tap. It’s a smart approach to dual-screen control that keeps the experience fluid whether you’re gaming, watching, or juggling apps.
Emulation is a clear priority. The video highlights Nintendo DS and 3DS gameplay, with the larger display handling the main action while the second screen shows complementary information like maps or UI elements—just as those titles were originally designed to be played.
AYN also previews several quick settings that cater to different play styles and environments. Fan Control offers smart, sports, and custom modes, and you can switch between three performance modes with a single tap to balance power and battery life. There’s a dedicated joystick LED menu too, letting you pick a preset color or fine-tune via a color wheel, along with brightness and contrast sliders for the lighting.
The bottom screen can double as a quick settings hub, surfacing shortcuts and useful system info without pulling you out of your game. A brief glimpse also reveals Direct Power Supply, a bypass charging option that lets the device draw power straight from a wall adapter when plugged in, helping reduce heat and preserve battery health during long sessions. AYN has offered a similar feature on the Odin 2, so it’s great to see it here as well.
While the software shown isn’t final and looks like it still needs polish compared to some rivals, AYN notes that development is ongoing, which leaves room for meaningful refinement before launch.
