Thanks to ASUS’s exclusive fine-tuning capabilities, this feature optimizes the clock (CAS) timings of the memory and Compute Core Dies (CCDs) on AM5 boards. The result? Significantly lower latencies than previously attainable, producing a noticeable improvement in performance, especially while gaming. In some scenarios, users could experience improved latencies with reductions in the double-digit range, further building upon the inter-core CCD latency improvements delivered by prior AMD AGESA BIOS updates.
For those itching to try it, this feature conveniently comes set to Auto in the AM5 BIOS panel but can be toggled manually for those eager to experience the gaming advantages. When tested in a real-world setup—with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU on an ROG Crosshair X670E Gene motherboard—the difference was evident. Normally, the system registered a latency of 63.9 nanoseconds. However, activating the “Core Tuning Config for Gaming” feature reduced this to a swift 58.9 nanoseconds, all while maintaining the same memory bandwidth. This translates to an impressive 8% reduction in overall system latency, a change that could mean all the difference in gaming where every millisecond counts.
Currently available in its beta version, this ASUS AM5 BIOS can be accessed by users with motherboards from the high-end X870E and X670E series as part of the AGESA 1.2.0.2b update.
