Asus ROG NUC Edition 20 arrives with RTX 5090 power, up to 128GB RAM, and a premium price
Asus has introduced the ROG NUC Edition 20, a high-end gaming mini PC built for users who want desktop-class performance in a compact form factor. This special edition stands apart from the standard ROG NUC 16 with a striking transparent chassis design, gold-colored accents, and upgraded hardware aimed at enthusiasts, creators, and serious gamers.
The biggest upgrade is the graphics card. Instead of the GeForce RTX 5080 found in the regular ROG NUC 16, the Edition 20 comes with the more powerful GeForce RTX 5090. Based on performance expectations, this should deliver around an 18% improvement in gaming performance compared to the RTX 5080 model. It also adds 8GB more VRAM, which could make a noticeable difference in demanding games, high-resolution textures, AI workloads, and creative applications.
Inside, the base configuration of the Asus ROG NUC Edition 20 includes an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor, 64GB of RAM, and a 2TB PCIe 5.0 SSD. That combination makes it a serious compact gaming machine, offering fast storage, strong multi-core performance, and enough memory for heavy multitasking, game streaming, video editing, and modern AAA titles.
However, the extra performance and premium design come with a steep price. The ROG NUC Edition 20 starts at $5,999, making it significantly more expensive than the standard ROG NUC 16. The price difference is substantial, with the special edition costing about $2,200 more than the cheapest version of the regular model. That works out to roughly a 57% price increase.
In China, the same configuration with 64GB of RAM is priced at CNY 43,999, which is approximately $6,469. Asus is also offering a more powerful variant with 128GB of RAM for CNY 51,999, or around $7,645. At the moment, this 128GB RAM version does not appear to be available across all regional Asus websites.
The Asus ROG NUC Edition 20 is clearly not aimed at budget-conscious buyers. Instead, it targets users who want one of the most powerful gaming mini PCs available, along with a standout design and top-tier components. With the RTX 5090, Core Ultra 9 processor, PCIe 5.0 storage, and up to 128GB of RAM, it is built for gamers and professionals who need premium performance in a small footprint.
For those who value compact size, cutting-edge hardware, and a unique collector-style appearance, the ROG NUC Edition 20 could be an impressive option. But for buyers focused strictly on value, the regular ROG NUC 16 may remain the more practical choice.
