ASUS Teases ROG Super Kill 27 Pro, the World’s First 720Hz Gaming Monitor with LG’s 4th-Gen OLED

ASUS is about to rewrite the rulebook for speed with a blisteringly fast OLED gaming monitor that taps into LG’s latest display tech. The ROG Super Kill 27 Pro, model PG27AQWP-W, uses LG’s 4th‑generation Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel to deliver dual display modes that push refresh rates into uncharted territory: up to 540 Hz at 1440p and up to 720 Hz at 720p.

LG’s new Primary RGB Tandem OLED advances beyond its previous generation by stacking four OLED layers instead of three. This multi-layer design is engineered for higher peak brightness, improved efficiency, and better longevity, all while preserving the inky blacks and instantaneous pixel response that make OLED ideal for competitive gaming. At an event earlier this year, LG demonstrated a 720 Hz OLED prototype; ASUS is now bringing that breakthrough to a retail monitor.

ASUS’s China general manager has already showcased the display, and reports indicate an official launch is just days away. While LG has indicated its panel can technically achieve 720 Hz at 1080p, ASUS’s PG27AQWP-W variant focuses on two specific performance modes: 1440p at up to 540 Hz and 720p at up to 720 Hz. That means esports players can target unprecedented motion clarity in 720p mode, while competitive and enthusiast gamers craving sharper visuals can still enjoy an ultra-high 540 Hz at 1440p.

Beyond raw speed, the panel is rated for a 0.02 ms gray-to-gray response time and carries True Black HDR 500 certification, promising vivid highlights, deep contrast, and minimal motion blur. To keep bandwidth from becoming a bottleneck at such extreme refresh rates, the monitor includes DisplayPort 2.1a with UHBR20 support, alongside multiple USB ports for peripherals and fast data connectivity.

Key highlights:
– 27-inch OLED gaming monitor using LG’s 4th‑gen Primary RGB Tandem OLED
– Dual-mode performance: up to 540 Hz at 2560×1440 and up to 720 Hz at 1280×720
– 0.02 ms response time for exceptional motion clarity
– True Black HDR 500 for deep blacks and punchy HDR
– DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 plus multiple USB connectivity options
– Global model name: PG27AQWP-W; China market name: ROG Super Kill 27 Pro

ASUS positions this as the first 720 Hz-at-720p gaming monitor built on LG’s latest OLED stack, taking the crown for the fastest refresh rate announced to date. It’s a clear signal that esports-focused displays are entering a new era, where sub-millisecond response and multi-hundred-hertz refresh cease to be theoretical and become practical for mainstream competitive titles.

According to reports, the ROG Super Kill 27 Pro is slated to launch on November 1, 2025. In China, pricing is listed at 8,499 yuan, which is roughly 1,193 US dollars.
