ASRock is gearing up for AMD’s next big thing by updating their AM5 motherboard pages to include compatibility with the high-end Ryzen 9000X3D processors. This means that all ASRock 800 and 600 series motherboards will support the anticipated Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D CPUs right out of the box.
Announced at CES 2025, AMD’s new Ryzen X3D chips, built on the Zen 5 architecture, are expected in the first quarter of 2025. Although AMD hasn’t shared the exact launch date yet, ASRock is ahead of the game by ensuring their AM5 motherboards are ready for these powerhouse processors.
In particular, ASRock has already rolled out updates across their entire AM5 lineup, including models like the X870/X870E, B850, X670/X670E, B650/B650E, and A620 chipsets. These updates have been reflected in the motherboard support lists, confirming that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D are now featured prominently, displaying their thermal design power (TDP) of 170W and 120W, respectively. Notably, the 9950X3D stands out as the first X3D CPU to reach a 170W TDP, potentially matching the 9950X in terms of power consumption.
For those eager to get their hands on these new chips, the good news is that a validated BIOS version (3.16) is already available for all ASRock AM5 motherboards. This means users can effortlessly plug in these CPUs and get up and running immediately. While an official release date from AMD remains unannounced, this proactive move by ASRock hints that the CPUs might be hitting the shelves sooner than expected.
Interestingly, other major motherboard manufacturers such as ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI have yet to follow suit with compatibility updates for their AM5 motherboards. This places ASRock at the forefront, ready to meet the demands of tech enthusiasts and professionals awaiting these cutting-edge processors.
