Asanuma’s new 8 MP King keychain camera brings retro charm to everyday carry at a budget-friendly price. Launched in Japan for 3,300 yen (around $25), this petite shooter is designed to slip onto your keys or bag and deliver nostalgic, vintage-style photos that feel delightfully different from today’s ultra-sharp smartphones. It’s available in three colors—black, white, and pink—making it a fun gift or travel companion.
Compact and featherlight, the King measures just 45 x 28 x 20 mm (1.77 x 1.10 x 0.79 in.) and weighs 16 g (0.56 oz.). Despite its size, it includes a 0.96-inch LCD for framing and playback, so you can quickly review your shots and clips on the go.
The camera captures 8 MP stills at 3,760 x 2,121 pixels in JPG format and records 1080p video at 30 fps in AVI. A built-in flash helps in low light, reinforcing its grab-and-go appeal. Storage is handled via microSD, with support for cards up to 32 GB.
Asanuma intentionally tuned the King for a nostalgic look, echoing the charm of early digital cameras rather than chasing modern smartphone clarity. If you’re into retro aesthetics for social media, zines, or travel diaries, this pocket camera delivers that throwback vibe straight out of the box.
Power comes from a 180 mAh lithium polymer battery, good for up to 100 minutes according to the company. Recharging is simple via USB-C. In the box, you get a strap, keychain, USB cable, and instruction manual—everything needed to clip it on and start shooting.
The 8 MP King keychain camera is available in Japan through the company’s storefront. Shoppers outside Japan can look for similar 8 MP keychain cameras on Amazon US and other major online marketplaces.
