Aqara Unveils the Hub M200: Matter-Ready Controller with a Built-In IR Blaster

Aqara used IFA 2025 to pull the wraps off the Hub M200, a powerful upgrade to the brand’s popular Hub M2. Designed as a true all-in-one smart home brain, the M200 combines modern multi-protocol connectivity with a built-in 360-degree IR blaster, so it can orchestrate both your newest Matter devices and older infrared-controlled gear from one place.

At its core, the Hub M200 serves as a Matter Controller and a Thread Border Router, while also acting as a Matter bridge for the company’s Zigbee accessories. That means it can unite Thread, Zigbee, dual-band Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth under a single hub, giving you wide device compatibility and a smoother path to a unified, future-ready smart home. Aqara says the M200 will work with more than 50 categories of Matter-enabled products and integrate with major smart home ecosystems, helping reduce platform lock-in.

One of the standout features is the integrated 360-degree IR blaster. This turns the M200 into a universal remote for legacy devices such as TVs, air conditioners, fans, and set-top boxes. You can tie those older appliances into your scenes and automations or trigger them with voice commands, letting your whole home—new and old—work together seamlessly.

Key highlights:
– Multi-protocol hub with Matter Controller and Thread Border Router capabilities
– Matter bridge support for existing Zigbee devices
– Thread, Zigbee, dual-band Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth connectivity
– Built-in 360-degree IR blaster for controlling legacy infrared appliances
– Broad compatibility with many categories of Matter-enabled products
– Designed for easy integration across major smart home ecosystems

Aqara has not yet shared a release date or official pricing for the Hub M200. As a reference point, the Hub 2 typically retails around $49.99, so expect the M200’s expanded capabilities to place it above that price tier.

Who should consider the Hub M200? If you’re building or upgrading a smart home and want one hub that blends next-gen standards like Matter and Thread with rock-solid support for Zigbee and IR devices, the M200 aims to simplify your setup, improve reliability with wired or wireless networking, and keep your options open as the ecosystem grows.
