A leading analyst has revealed that Apple is planning to launch the second generation of its foldable iPhone in 2027, promising enhancements in display technology and hinge design. The initial version, however, is expected to offer distinct design advantages that promise a superior user experience compared to its rivals.
Apple is reportedly prioritizing the removal of display creases and improving hinge quality to create an exceptional foldable iPhone. According to Mark Gurman, the foldable iPhone is set to feature two major benefits over current competitors. Currently under development, Apple is committed to addressing concerns about the display and hinge components, aiming for a seamless screen with no visible crease.
Gurman suggests that once unfolded, the display will appear nearly flawless, offering about 7.8 to 8 inches of smooth screen, enhancing the viewing experience by reducing light refraction issues typical in current models. Apple intends to distinguish itself by ensuring the crease is barely noticeable when the phone is open.
Moreover, the hinge design of Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to surpass those of companies like Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Huawei in quality. Although specifics on materials are sparse, it is anticipated to be constructed from a mix of stainless steel and titanium, promising durability and strength.
Additional insights from analyst Kuo indicate that the foldable iPhone will feature a 5.5-inch external display and a 7.8-inch internal display, akin to the iPad mini but with a unique aspect ratio. Notably, it will incorporate Touch ID in the power button instead of Face ID, alongside a high-density battery. The device is said to measure 4.5mm thick when unfolded and between 9 to 9.5mm when folded.
