Apple Launches Staff Lottery for September’s In-Person iPhone Event

Apple Opens Retail Employee Lottery Ahead of September iPhone Event

Apple is getting ready for its most important product showcase of the year, and preparations for the September iPhone event are already underway. The company has reportedly opened a lottery for U.S. retail employees who want to work at the upcoming in-person keynote, where Apple is expected to reveal its next wave of major hardware.

According to details from an internal memo, selected retail staff will assist with event operations such as managing attendee lines, checking in guests, helping with crowd flow, and supporting security teams. The initiative is being referred to internally as the “Event Support Experience Program.”

Apple has not yet announced the exact date of the event, but employees have been told it will take place during the first half of September. Historically, Apple’s iPhone launch events often fall on the second Tuesday or Wednesday of the month. With Labor Day landing on September 7 this year, a Wednesday event appears to be a strong possibility, especially given Apple’s usual travel and scheduling patterns for invited guests.

The employee lottery is open for a limited time, with interested retail workers required to apply by August 8. Apple is expected to inform selected participants by August 17. However, employees who already supported this year’s developer conference or last year’s iPhone launch will not be eligible, giving other retail team members a chance to participate in one of Apple’s highest-profile annual events.

This year’s September keynote is expected to draw even more attention than usual. It will reportedly be the first major Apple product event under incoming CEO John Ternus, who is set to take over from Tim Cook on September 1. That leadership transition alone makes the event a landmark moment for the company.

Apple is widely expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside new Apple Watch models. The biggest headline, however, could be the long-rumored foldable iPhone, which would mark one of the most significant design shifts in the iPhone lineup in years.

If Apple does unveil its first foldable iPhone, the September event could become one of the company’s most memorable launches in recent history. Between a new CEO era, refreshed flagship iPhones, updated wearables, and the possibility of an entirely new iPhone form factor, Apple’s upcoming showcase is shaping up to be a major moment for both the company and the wider smartphone industry.
